I have my Christmas dinner this year the moms and she asked me to organize the starter, but I do not I have no idea what to do! never usually start eating (I'm more of a person with milk), so I'm puzzled. Does anyone have any ideas / recipes? I do not want shrimp cocktail that I do not like shrimp or mayonnaise and cook everything has to be vegetarian (or one of the easiest dishes to substitute Quorn vegetarian) and my boyfriend is a vegetable. Can anyone help? Ooh, and I have been asked to make a better Christmas pudding ….. answer to who can give me a recipe for Christmas pudding and a good start! Cheers Xxxx

Hi, Well I do not like prawn cocktail or soup or something like that to boot well …. What I tend to go for is melon … Accompanied other fruits bu then make a raspberry sauce for over the top …. Makes a great start and it doesn't overfill the extent that room is left for dinner … A recipe Crimbo milk well here is an Ingredients: 100g butter 250g sugar (or dark brown sugar Barbados works best) 100 g flour 2 eggs 2 tablespoons molasses 1 / 2 teaspoon salt juice and zest of 1 orange 3 tablespoons rum / brandy / sherry 100 g of fresh bread, bread crumbs become half grated nutmeg spices (about 1 teaspoon) 1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated (or 1 teaspoon dried ginger) 1 teaspoon spice mixture Fruits and Nuts 100 g currants 100 g raisins 100 g raisins 100 g of candied cherries, halved 100 g fatty ground almonds Method One One budinera liter. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. After playing the molasses. Add eggs, one at a time, with a spoonful of flour. Add spices, salt and remaining flour and mix well. Add fruits and almonds and mix well. Then add orange juice and zest, alcohol and bread crumbs. Mix to form a thick dough / pasta. Pour the mixture into the pie pan. Cover the top with greaseproof paper and tie securely with string. Place the basin in large saucepan with enough water to come halfway basin. Cover pan and boil gently for 3 hours. Do not let the water run dry. Cool and store in a cool, dark place until you want to eat. Then boil (as above) for 2 hours before serving. Time table cabinet 3 1 / 2 hours plus 2 hours a day. A commitment, but well worth the effort. This is one I found, because I left it too late to make one that has to sit for months in advance. Hope this helps xoxo
