In search of new formulations mochi?

Every New Year my family has o-zoni with toasted mochi, but rarely eat it the rest of the year. At a dinner company recently someone brought mochi covered by a red meat sauce similar in appearance to the meat sauce for pasta. Initially I thought it was the pasta, but the texture of mochi was unmistakable, and the tomato sauce was less flavor and more pungent. Does anyone have any good recipes for dishes with mochi, or sauces that go well with boiled mochi? I'm absolutely not interested in dessert recipes that are easy to find, but for some reason, none of the links has increased food recipes mochi for anything other than the desserts.
