can make plain white bread amish friendship starter?
I got the boot and have been following the instructions. However, it is expected that this would a clear white bread and the recipe sounds more like a sweet bread with cinnamon. Is there any way to make a white bread this start? Or is it just to make sweet bread?
It's just sweet bread. You do not need a "starter" for white bread. Try this recipe for white bread, which is soooooooooo good! 2 (0.25 oz) packages active dry yeast 2 cups warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees) 1 / 2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 2 eggs, beaten oil 1 / 4 cup vegetable 6 1 / 2 cups flour for any use in a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt, eggs, oil and 3 cups flour, beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch dough down. Divide in half and shape into loaves. A place in two greased 9-inch. x 5-in. x 3-in loaf pans. Cover and let rise until double, about 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.
